PhaseBox
PhaseBox PRO 2.0, with spiral cableArt. no.: 9899001
In the new PhaseBox 2.0, we build on the success of PhaseBox One. The same proven design with maximum security and efficiency. At the same time, we have thought carefully about WiFi connection and load balancing. It is not intended that the installer should have to work with the end customer's network and settings. This makes many people shy away from working with charging boxes at all. We have therefore removed the uncertainty surrounding charging box installation by completely replacing WiFi for the load balancing with an automatic radio connection. The technology around the new load balancing in PhaseBox 2.0 is patent pending. Our new patent-pending load balancing PhaseLink transfers measurement values to the charging box completely autonomously and automatically with the help of a radio signal. We have developed a radio link that sends the values from the supply completely independently of the end customer's network. Either to a charging box, or several charging boxes, for example in a BRF. The radio link is very powerful and reaches hundreds of meters. It can handle brick walls and metal cabinets without problems. PhaseLink has sockets for energy meters on the supply, both for RJ45 and RJ12 in the same unit. Everything to make it easy to work with. You can easily check that the radio link works directly in the charging box. Of course without connection or apps.
Main fuse
You set the main fuse with a rotary switch in the charging box. This means that you do not need to connect to any network to set the main fuse, you just turn it in so that the right LED lights up. After that, the load balancing works completely autonomously and automatically.
How to install PhaseBox 2.0:
*) Unscrew the charging box and switch on.
*) Connect PhaseLink on RJ12 or RJ45.
*) Check that LINK from PhaseLink lights up in the box.
*) Set the value of the main fuse.
*) Screw on the lid.
*) Hand over the manual to the end customer.
*) Done, move on to the next customer.
If you are going to install several boxes, just make sure that they all have the same address on the DIP switches. It doesn't get any simpler and safer than that.
Customer Experience
When you are finished with the power supply and installation, you hand over the manual to the end customer. After that, the customer can do his own thing in peace and quiet by connecting the box to his WiFi. No matter how it goes, the box will work and load balance completely autonomously. Connection should not be the installer's main concern. With PhaseBox 2.0, we have simply moved the whole bit of connectivity to the customer's domain. The end customer is often used to this, it is the same as connecting a TV or a toaster to the internet. The basic functionality of autonomous load balancing is always there as an integral part of the installation. The possibility for the customer to connect himself to the box adds value to the product without making life complicated for the installer.
Security
The security of PhaseBox is self-evident. We use oversized components for long life. This means low heat generation and efficient electronics. We have also chosen to use external earth-fault circuit breaker type B. A little more expensive, but much safer. A charging box must have protection against leaking DC. There are two ways, either electronic DC protection with an earth fault breaker type A, or an earth fault breaker type B. The electronic DC protection is used by some manufacturers to get lower costs for the product. However, it requires that the electronics in the box work correctly for it to work. It is also not possible to verify with test instruments that it actually works. We don't think so, but as I said, we ship with a real earth-fault circuit breaker type B from ABB instead. An external standard component is always safer than an electronic protection built into the box.
Phase Balancing and Phase Switching
PhaseBox 2.0 of course retains full phase balancing and phase switching. All incoming phases are automatically combined for the most efficient charging, i.e. not just phase rotation or choice between single phase and three phase without switching. The function ensures that the power is used optimally, especially in installations with several charging boxes on one supply. The box automatically engages the optimal phase combination based on what kind of car it is and how much power is available. The result is that more cars can be charged on a certain supply,
