The Shelly Plus Add-On is a small module that can be clicked onto any Shelly Plus unit, adding a wealth of new functionality to the Shelly units. The Shelly Plus Add-On has both digital and analogue input and can be connected to up to five temperature sensors or a single temperature and humidity sensor.

When the Shelly Plus Add-On is added to a Shelly Plus device, it must be activated in the app, after which it is possible to activate the sensors that have been connected to the device. The device supports the following types of devices:

Connection
Shelly Plus Add On does not work standalone. The device will snap into any Shelly Plus device, providing increased functionality to the Shelly Plus device. The Shelly Plus Add On does not need to be wired to the Shelly Plus unit, as it is equipped with pins that automatically connect to the Shelly Plus unit. The two units are galvanically isolated from each other.

All inputs and outputs are fully programmable and only require local WiFi to communicate between devices. Connection
The Shelly Pro Dual Cover PM can be connected to the Internet or the local network through LAN interface and/or 2.4 GHz WiFi. In addition, the device has built-in Bluetooth, like the rest of the Pro and Plus devices, which means it can also be used as a gateway for Shelly's Bluetooth devices.

Shelly Pro Dual Cover works locally without connecting to Shelly Cloud, but it is recommended to enable this for easy data storage and increased functionality. The device can also communicate via MQTT, HTTP and WebSocket. All support TLS. As a novelty, Shelly Pro 3EM also supports Modbus TCP connection.

Hardware
The device is equipped with hardware from generation 2, which, among other things, consists of a powerful ESP32 processor. This enables the use of scripting functions for advanced and custom functionality as well as range-extender functionality with the device.
