Connection

The Shelly Plus Add-On is a small module that can be clicked onto any Shelly Plus unit, adding a wealth of new functionality to the Shelly units. When the Shelly Plus Add-On is added to a Shelly Plus device, it must be activated in the app, after which it is possible to activate the sensors that have been connected to the device. The device supports the following types of devices:

Connection
Shelly Plus Add On does not work standalone. The device will snap into any Shelly Plus device, providing increased functionality to the Shelly Plus device. The Shelly Plus Add On does not need to be wired to the Shelly Plus unit, as it is equipped with pins that automatically connect to the Shelly Plus unit. The two units are galvanically isolated from each other.

The module is mounted on a DIN rail next to the host device and connected via Shelly's internal serial interface. An external SMA antenna is included and can be extended or upgraded if better coverage is required — for example when mounting in a metal cabinet.
The low RF power below 14 dBm and the EU868 low-power mode ensure reliable operation without duty cycle limitations in normal use. Two LED indicators (RX and TX) show the communication status directly on the device. The accessory supports user-defined scripts and can be combined with Bluetooth functionality on the host device so that data from Shelly BLU devices can be forwarded over LoRa.
