OK AristoRod 13.12 is a low alloy wire electrode for gas metal arc welding. Containing 1.0% Cr and 0.5% Mo, is intended for welding heat-resistant steel of the same type and other low-alloy, high-strength steel, as there is no impact resistance requirement. When welding SS 2216 and 2223 in greater thicknesses than 8-10 mm, the working temperature should be kept at 150-200° C to limit the risk of cracking. Welding should be followed by an anneal between 680-720°C with a holding time of approx. 30 min. after completely heated up. Low-alloyed high-strength steel (SS 2225, Weldox 500, 700) can often be welded without preheating; however, an increased working temperature is then advisable. Multiple strands are required to fill a joint. The typical mechanical value that is reported is both in the untreated state and after stress annealing (700°C/0.5h). OK AristoRod 13.12 is surface treated with ESAB’s unique ASC method - a completely new coating technique, which reaches new levels for MAG welding with regards to design and versatility, especially for robot welding and automated welding. Characteristic advantages are exceptionally good start qualities. Trouble-free feeding at high feed rates and long feeder cables, a very stable arc at high welding currents, little spray, low smoke emission, reduces wear of contact nozzle and improved protection against corrosion on the wire.
