3M Cubitron 3 Flap Disc 1169F is a disc designed for flexibility and ease of use with reduced risk of wear. It is intended to provide longer durability and faster cut rates than flap discs using other abrasive mineral shapes, including conventional aluminium oxide and aluminium zirconia. The disc uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain with a new geometry featuring curved sides that fracture into sharp points during use. This allows the grain to cut through metal rather than ploughing, maintaining cutting speed throughout the disc’s service life. The durable polyester backing is intended for work on carbon steel.

Compared with the 3M Cubitron II Flap Disc 969F grade, the 1169F provides up to 49% more material removal, and up to 66% more compared with the 3M Flap Disc 769F grade. The disc is suitable for medium to high pressure applications such as beveling, weld grinding, deburring and edge or contour work. It produces a surface finish suitable for leveling and surface preparation, including removal of mill scale and weld spatter. A technical tip is that the disc can be used for both grinding and finishing in a single step without changing abrasives, as it typically generates a surface equivalent to a finer grade compared with a fibre disc of the same grade.

Flexible, self-centering Deburring & Honing Tool. Creates a Plateau finish, the cross pattern formed creates an ideal bonding base on the machined surface, which in turn generates a good oil film carrier. The tool is always used with an oversize in relation to the hole dimension to be machined. The edge breaking / edge rounding is therefore very effective when deburring, for example, the entry & exit radius in cylindrical holes, internal cross & transverse holes, bearing positions, etc. Generates a controlled edge rounding and surface finish regardless of the material being machined. Can be used in handheld machines, honing machines, CNC, NC machines, as well as other automatic machines & robots, applied in a suitable tool holder.
Applications: Combustion cylinders, piston rods, boreholes on shafts, pneumatic & hydraulic cylinders, valve guides, compressed air equipment, wheel & brake cylinders, camshafts, crankshafts, pipes.
Recommendations: Lubricant is preferably used. We recommend applying honing oil to the Novoflex B brush before use. Mineral oil, motor oil, water-soluble oil (viscosity 10W30), coolant can also be used. In hydraulic brake cylinders, brake fluid should be used.
Honing time 20-40 seconds
Oscillate 60-120 strokes/minute
Recommended RPM: Novoflex B brushes up to Ø 40 mm, 600-1000 RPM. Novoflex B brushes > Ø 41 mm, 350-600 RPM.
Processing time can be reduced when deburring intersecting holes & transverse holes.

Cubitron II consists of precision moulded grinding minerals of ceramic aluminium oxide. The self sharpening triangles are worn down with time as they are used and new sharp edges are created continuously which cut like a knife through metal. The technology provides a much faster work than with conventional grinding products, even on demanding materials such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt-chrome steel. For grinding, fine work, and deburring of, in principle, all metals. The edge-reinforcement and Cubitron II grinding material of the pad resulted in more durable edge work. The practical Roloc-thread makes it simple to mount on the angle grinder and at the same time ensures that it is securely fixed.
