Flap Disc 3M 1169F Angled

3M Cubitron 3 Flap Disc 1169F is a disc designed for flexibility and ease of use with reduced risk of wear. It is intended to provide longer durability and faster cut rates than flap discs using other abrasive mineral shapes, including conventional aluminium oxide and aluminium zirconia. The disc uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain with a new geometry featuring curved sides that fracture into sharp points during use. This allows the grain to cut through metal rather than ploughing, maintaining cutting speed throughout the disc’s service life. The durable polyester backing is intended for work on carbon steel.

Compared with the 3M Cubitron II Flap Disc 969F grade, the 1169F provides up to 49% more material removal, and up to 66% more compared with the 3M Flap Disc 769F grade. The disc is suitable for medium to high pressure applications such as beveling, weld grinding, deburring and edge or contour work. It produces a surface finish suitable for leveling and surface preparation, including removal of mill scale and weld spatter. A technical tip is that the disc can be used for both grinding and finishing in a single step without changing abrasives, as it typically generates a surface equivalent to a finer grade compared with a fibre disc of the same grade.
