Project Logistics – a key factor in Actemium’s choice of Ahlsell

In spring 2025, Ahlsell began supplying materials to Actemium, one of Sweden’s leading players in electrical engineering. The agreement is linked to a major industrial project in northern Sweden, where Actemium is responsible for the technical solutions. The project’s high demands on material flow and logistics have made Ahlsell’s Project Logistics service a key component in the delivery of the project.

Ensuring that the right materials reach the right place at the right time is important in all types of projects, but often absolutely crucial in large-scale projects. For Actemium, it was therefore essential to collaborate with a reliable materials supplier that could also take overall responsibility for logistics and coordination.

– Ahlsell’s extensive experience in project logistics and managing complex material flows was a decisive factor in choosing a partner. With the Project Logistics service, we don’t have to spend time on coordination and can focus fully on our technical solutions. It saves both time and resources, says Dick Johansson, Site Manager at Actemium.

The right materials, in the right place, at the right time

Erik Marklund, Regional KAM at Ahlsell, highlights the internal collaboration and how employees from several different specialist areas have worked together to create a solution tailored to Actemium’s needs.

– This project is an excellent example of what we mean by OneAhlsell. Together with my colleagues in Project Logistics and Electrical/Installation, we have put together a solution that truly meets Actemium’s specific requirements. It’s great to see how our internal collaboration helps create added value for our customers.

In practical terms, the project logistics setup is linked to Ahlsell’s regional warehouse in Luleå, where a dedicated area has been set aside for temporary storage. Ahlsell’s own staff handle the materials, creating an efficient and flexible logistics solution.

– The majority of purchases come from Ahlsell, but we also receive and deliver goods from other suppliers. Based on the agreed plan, we then coordinate all deliveries to the project to ensure everything is in place when it is needed on site, says Joanna Andersson, Logistics Manager at Ahlsell.

Ahlsell Flow provides full control of the material flow

One of the features particularly appreciated by Actemium is Ahlsell’s new system support, Ahlsell Flow. Through integration and data collection, they can track in real time what has been delivered to the construction site and match it against their production plan.

– With Ahlsell Flow, we get a completely different level of overview. The fact that we can define our stock levels and see exactly what has been delivered helps create both confidence and predictability in the project, says Dick Johansson.

This is the first time Ahlsell’s Project Logistics service has been linked to a major industrial project in northern Sweden. According to Elin Pettersson, Head of Sales for Project Logistics at Ahlsell, strong collaboration and mutual trust have been crucial to the success of the partnership.

– We have shown Actemium that we are solution-oriented and can help them manage the material flow in a way that makes their work smoother. Working with a customer who truly understands the value of well-planned logistics makes this project both rewarding and developmental.

The first material flows began in April. From Ahlsell’s side, we look forward to continuing the project together with Actemium and contributing to the development of industry in the region.
